My Favorite Part About Being A Professional Artist

What’s my favorite part about being a professional artist?

Honestly… it’s that I get to spend hours in my studio, completely immersed in creativity. I love being at my desk, with my easels and brushes close by. I’ve built this huge collection of paints, and I start to feel like a scientist in a lab! 🧪🤓

I mostly use vials of ink and porcelain palettes, and even the sound of the brushes and mixing feels comforting to my soul.

And speaking of scientists… When I’m in my studio, I like to imagine myself as different characters. A scientist. An anthropologist. A historian. 🧠✨

I’ve actually found myself wondering what Gustav Klimt was like in his studio—what did he think about while painting? What was his favorite part of his process? What did he do when he had an art block?

And sometimes I even think about Thomas Edison—like… did he enjoy biscuits while figuring out how to make the light bulb???

Were they crusty and dry? Or had someone already figured out how to make them soft and buttery??

😆

And just so you know….

I LOVE learning about history.📜❤️✨

When I step into those characters, I really do feel grateful. My studio is filled with books—lots of them. Books, knowledge, and information are everything to me. Just like my ink bottles and palettes, being surrounded by books gives me comfort.

It feels like protection.

Books offer knowledge, stories, and whole worlds to explore. Honestly, if I never spoke to another person again(which isn’t true—I’ll touch on this in a future blog post!😝), I’d be okay just being surrounded by characters from books.

One of my absolute favorite feelings is when I become deeply curious about a subject. I’ll move kingdoms and mountains to learn more about it.😆

And if I’m that intense with books…

Can you imagine me with Google?

Exactly.😏

And now in 2025, we have AI assistants that happily share information about any topic I want??

The sapiophile in me is very pleased.😌✨

I know a lot of people are scared about AI taking over,

Pero….

Yo no tengo miedo.

🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m down for the ride, I’m going to enjoy the ride.

I’m going to live it up in the age of AI—flying saucers, weird algorithms, digital fairy dust and all.🛸👽✨

In a world where humanity is declining in empathy, reading comprehension, basic communication, media literacy, and social skills….

AI is ready for the world.

Humanity wants to avoid the world.🤷🏼‍♀️

And so…..

Let me take a pause before I drift too far down into this AI/books rabbit hole. This post is supposed to be about my favorite part of being a professional artist!😆🎨✨

But I guess, in a way, that whole tangent is part of my favorite thing. Being a professional artist means I get to spend my time in my studio, surrounded by books and creative materials, chasing inspiration wherever it leads.

It means I can follow my curiosity, honor my joy, and express my wildly chaotic thoughts on a platform that’s curated just for me.💜

That’s a blessing.

I feel so happy to have made it here.🥹

And I feel very blessed to have the liberty to share all this with you.

This post is just a small glimpse—a little chasm—of my mind.

Welcome to my kaleidoscopic consciousness.

In another post, I’ll share more about my past work experiences, college years, and some of the things that kept me from fully embracing this life as a visual artist.

Thanks for reading, and I wish you a beautiful day or night—wherever you are.

Sending love,

Daydreaming Muse🥀
